Licensure Disclosure

In compliance with the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations 34 CFR 668.43(a)(5)(v), colleges and universities must communicate publicly and directly to prospective and current students whether programs leading to a license or certification meet other states’ requirements. If your chosen career requires licensure or certification, please note that requirements vary by state. There are occasions when individual states have requirements beyond what New York mandates, even though graduates may be eligible to attempt a national certification exam. Below is a listing of all Center for Allied Health Education’s programs, indicating how they meet state and national requirements.

Diagnostic Medical Sonography

Meets the requirements for Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming.

Students are encouraged to verify with the licensure board in their state and the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS) www.sdms.org .

Radiography

Graduates of this program are prepared to attempt the ARRT national exam, which meets the professional requirements for New York as well as Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming.

Alaska, California, and Colorado also require a separate certification exam to perform fluoroscopy.

Georgia additionally requires completion of 6 hours of radiation safety education.

Emergency Medical Technician

Graduates of this program are prepared to attempt the New York state exam. Graduates who successfully pass the New York state exam are eligible to work only within the state of New York. However, this program also prepares graduates to sit for the National Registry of EMTs (NREMT) exam, should they choose to take it. Successfully passing the NREMT exam meets the requirements for the following states: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming.

Paramedic

Radiation Therapy

Medical Dosimetry

Graduates of JRCERT-accredited programs holding a bachelor’s degree are eligible to sit for the national exam, the Medical Dosimetry Certification Board (MDCB), which is the accepted certification in all states. Any other state-specific information can be found at
