Guidance
The above loans are credit based; students with a low credit score or insufficient credit history are encouraged to use a creditworthy cosigner to receive the best interest rate. Repayment options and interest rates are subject to change — please check current options on each lender's website.
Private education loans are available to help cover educational expenses; however, they are not part of the federal financial aid program. We strongly encourage all students to first complete the FAFSA to determine eligibility for federal aid, which may offer more favorable terms and protections. Private loans are credit-based and may require a cosigner. Interest rates, repayment terms, and borrower benefits vary by lender. It is important to carefully review and compare all loan options before making a decision. CAHE does not endorse any specific private lender, and students are free to choose any lender they prefer. Once students receive their College Financing Plan, they will be provided with options of lenders who offer private loans to our students.
