Initial setup

Power on

Press and hold the Top (Power) button until the Apple logo appears. Swipe up when you see "Hello."

Preferences

Choose your desired language, select your country/region, and select the appearance of how you want your text and icons to look on your iPad.

Passcode

Set up the required six-digit passcode. Make it easy enough for you to remember but tough enough for anybody else to guess. You will be asked to re-enter the passcode to confirm.

Set-up options

You will be asked if you want to restore a previous or existing device. Please do not restore or set up from another device. Choose "Set Up without Another Device" at the bottom of the screen.

Connect & secure

Wi-Fi

Connect to Wi-Fi. This is a very important step — to complete the setup and load all of the applications, you need to be connected to the internet.

Data & Privacy

Confirm the Data & Privacy policy by clicking "Continue" at the bottom of the screen.

Touch ID

Set up your Touch ID. This feature allows you to use your fingerprint to access the data on your device.

Device management & Apple ID

CAHE-managed iPad

Your iPad is managed by Center for Allied Health Education. This ensures you have all the required applications for school. It does not mean you cannot load other applications. When you complete your program and leave the Center, you will be instructed on how to have the iPad released from CAHE control so you can use it unmanaged. Do not transfer any data or apps when prompted.

Apple ID sign-in

You must have an Apple ID and be signed in with it on your new device. If you have an existing Apple ID, enter your Apple ID and password and complete two-factor authentication if set up. If you do not have an Apple ID, you can use your new student email address to create one — click "Forgot password or don't have an account?" in the middle of the screen.

Terms & Conditions

You must click "Agree" to the Terms & Conditions at the bottom of the screen to complete the setup. You will then have several other applications or services available; these are recommended to be set up during the initial install, but you can always go back and set them up later.

Optional settings

Automatic iPadOS updates

Keeps your iPad up to date. If you click "Continue," your device will automatically download and run updates as they become available. If you select "Only Download Automatically," updates will be downloaded but you will be responsible for installing them.

Location Services

Should be turned on during install. During your program you will go to clinical sites for rotations and will be required to clock in and out using an app on your device. The application uses "Geo-Fencing" to ensure you are in the correct location for your rotations.

Display mode

Apple asks whether you want Light or Dark display. Light Mode is best for daytime use, reading, and maximum clarity; Dark Mode is best for night use and reduced eye strain. You can change this anytime, so your choice during setup is not permanent.

Siri & Apple Intelligence

Apple Intelligence is Apple's built-in AI system that works directly on your device (and securely with Apple servers when needed). The A16 chip can handle many tasks locally, which means faster responses, better privacy, and less reliance on the cloud.

Company Portal

Once you complete the iPad setup, launch the Intune Company Portal to begin the setup of the device and start the download/installation of the apps needed.

Sign in to the Company Portal using your new school email and password. Choose the correct email account from your authenticator app and enter your password and authenticator number. The setup and verification process will then begin.

Begin setup

This is the first of four sections you will go through to set up the Company Portal. When the "Begin" button appears, click it to continue.

Confirm privacy & profile

Confirm the privacy information by clicking "Continue," then continue again to begin the download of the CEG management profile, and continue once more to begin installing the apps on your device.

App installation

This is the master list of all the apps that will be installed. Once you reach this screen you do not need to do anything more — all the apps will begin to install automatically. To install an app that has not yet been installed, click on the application icon and click "Install."

Accessories

CAHE will provide you with a protective case and a Bluetooth keyboard.

Optional to purchase: Apple Pencil (USB-C or Pro, model-dependent).
