At CAHE, students are guided by professionals who bring both experience and passion into the classroom. One of those educators is Laura Borghardt, Assistant Director of Academic Affairs and Program Director of Medical Dosimetry. In both roles, Laura plays an important part in supporting students as they build the knowledge, confidence, and skills needed to enter the healthcare field.
As Program Director of Medical Dosimetry, Laura oversees the MDS program through teaching, training, advocacy, and student guidance. Medical dosimetry is a highly specialized area of healthcare that requires accuracy, critical thinking, and a strong understanding of radiation treatment planning. Students preparing for this profession need more than classroom instruction. They need guidance from educators who understand the field and can help them connect what they are learning to real patient care.
Laura’s role allows her to do exactly that. She helps students navigate the program while encouraging them to become the best medical dosimetrists they can be. In addition to her work within the MDS program, Laura also serves as Assistant Director of Academic Affairs, where she works closely with administration to support quality education across CAHE. Her position reflects CAHE’s commitment to providing students with strong academic leadership and meaningful support throughout their training.
For Laura, one of the most rewarding parts of her work is sharing her love for medical dosimetry with others. She enjoys being able to pass her passion for the profession on to students who are eager to learn and grow. Helping students discover their potential and prepare for a meaningful career is a major part of what makes her role so fulfilling.
Use your voice
Her advice to students is simple but important: use your voice. Laura encourages students to advocate for themselves, communicate clearly, ask questions, and take an active role in their education. In healthcare training, students may not always know what they do not know, which is why asking questions is so valuable. Speaking up can help students better understand the material, build confidence, and become stronger future healthcare professionals.
Laura also reminds students that communication is key to success. Whether in the classroom, clinical setting, or future workplace, strong communication helps students learn, collaborate, and provide better care. Her message encourages students not to stay quiet when they are unsure, but instead to be involved in their own learning process.
Outside of her professional role, Laura has a creative side as well. A fun fact about her is that she is a professional singer. This detail gives students a chance to see her not only as an educator and leader, but also as a well-rounded person with talents beyond the classroom.
Faculty members like Laura help shape the student experience at CAHE. Through her leadership, teaching, and dedication to student success, she helps prepare future medical dosimetrists for an important and impactful career. We are proud to highlight Laura Borghardt, whose passion for healthcare education continues to inspire and support CAHE students.
